CHANDLER, Ariz.--Jan. 9, 2003--Amkor Technology, Inc. (Nasdaq: AMKR) announced that its Board of Directors has named James W. Zug a director. With this appointment, Amkor's board has expanded from 7 to 8 members, of which 6 are outside directors.

Mr. Zug, 62, retired from PricewaterhouseCoopers LLP (PWC) in 2000 following a distinguished 37-year career at PWC and Coopers & Lybrand. From 1998 until his retirement Mr. Zug was Global Leader -- Global Deployment for PWC. From 1993 to 1998 he was Managing Director International for Coopers & Lybrand. PWC is Amkor's independent accountants.

Mr. Zug serves on the boards of directors of SPS Technologies, Inc., Stackpole Ltd, Brandywine Fund Inc, and Brandywine Blue Fund Inc. He is also on the boards of directors of the Philadelphia Orchestra Association, the Kimmel Center for the Performing Arts, the Episcopal Academy, and the Merion Golf Club.
