Amkor Customer Center

Amkor Technology understands the importance of communicating with our customers. In light of this understanding, we provide our customers with a wide variety of communication options. Whether receiving or sending information, Amkor strives to be on the leading edge, utilizing everything from e-mail to web access to business-to-business (B2B) software.

The strength of our system is our world-wide communications network that ties together our factories and sales offices. Using this network, production information is exchanged between the factories and Amkor Technology's centralized reporting system on a regular basis throughout the day, seven days a week. Not only can the system provide customers access to lot status, shipping, and billing information but it is also used to load the factory systems with customer information such as purchase orders, forecasts and release information.

The system utilizes a variety of methods to send and receive this data, ranging from access to our near-real-time lot status database via the world wide web to the delivery of raw data files, designed to be imported into our customers internal strategic information systems, allowing customers to view the lot status information concerning their lots via their own internal systems. Amkor is able to utilize many recognized standards such as EDI or RosettaNet as well as Amkor developed file formats, enabling customers to choose a method that will work best for them.

Web.data™ Customer Center
Amkor Technology understands the importance of providing customers with quick and easy access to information regarding the status of their product.

In light of this understanding, Amkor Technology makes a wide variety of information available to its customers. Ranging from work in process and cycle time data to inventory information, Amkor's offerings are carefully designed to satisfy our customers' needs.

Realizing that no two customers are alike, Amkor provides customers with a self-service, non-technical approach for users who require custom reports.

Web.data™ is Amkor Technology's customer specific web application that provides easy access to text-based data and graphical reporting tools.

Web.data™ allows customers to create user-defined queries, controlling such features such as data elements, sorting, and timing.

Data can be viewed on-line or downloaded to a PC file with automatic report delivery to the customer's email address.

Data Transfers
Amkor Technology understands the importance of automating as much as possible the flow of data between our systems and our customers' systems. This includes providing customers with as much information as possible regarding the status of their product in our facilities as well as delivering customer data to the factories.

In light of this understanding, Amkor has the ability to share a wide variety of information with our customers. Ranging from work in process and cycle time data to invoicing information Amkor's offerings are carefully designed to satisfy our customer's needs as well as the needs of the factories

The available data sets include:

Purchase Orders:
Amkor has the ability to receive and store a customer's purchase order(s) electronically, eliminating the need for manual entry by Amkor personnel. While there is a variety of options, Amkor is interested in using the recently released RosettaNet PO standard as much as possible.

Forecasts:
Amkor has the ability to receive a customer's weekly/monthly forecast and load it into our planning database automatically. Once again eliminating the need for manual entry and as a result increasing accuracy and reducing the time to get the forecast entered and submitted.

Intransit Data:
Amkor has the ability to receive incoming shipment information from our customers. When loaded into our systems it provides advance notice to the factories that a specific lot is on its way to the factory. This allows for pre-scheduling, and makes possible the benefits gained by reducing manual entry at the factories.

Assembly Documents:
Amkor has FTP servers located at our Document Control Centers. This capability gives customers the option of delivering their bond diagrams, wafer maps, marking instructions, etc… to the factories instantaneously. No more troublesome fax machines or e-mail; FTP is a more secure and reliable method.

Die Releases:
Amkor has the ability to receive customer's release order electronically. This enables the factories to react much quicker to a requested release to the production floor, and of course makes possible the benefits gained by reducing manual entry at the factories.

WIP Data:
Amkor has many options for sending WIP information to our customers. The methods available are as diverse as the information available. Most basically, customers have the option of status level data where a snapshot is provided of all lots at the factories or transactional level data where the actual process steps can be shown individually and therefore loaded into a customer's internal systems.

Shipping Data:
Amkor has the ability to send shipping information to our customers electronically. Enabling customers to receive the ship alert much faster than a fax, and provide the data in a format that can feed directly into the customer's internal systems for tracking purposes.

Billing Information:
Amkor has the ability to send billing information to our customers electronically, thereby enabling customers to get the invoice information before the paper copy arrives and in a format that can feed their internal systems directly. The loading of this information electronically also helps to promote accuracy.

Integration / Delivery Methods
Realizing that no two customers are alike, Amkor strives to be on the leading edge of integration methods, utilizing a wide range of data exchange technologies so that all customers can find a solution that works best for them in their particular environment.

The available integration / delivery methods include:

E-Mail:
E-Mail is the most basic communication method. Its ease-of use makes it a useful method. Automation using e-mail is not the preferred method due to reliability issues, but delivery of reports via e-mail is still widely used.

Web Based Reporting:
Web.data™ is Amkor Technology's customer specific web application that provides easy access to text-based data and graphical reporting tools. Web.data™ allows customers to create user-defined queries, controlling such features such as data elements, sorting, and timing. Data can be viewed on-line or downloaded to a PC file with automatic report delivery to the customer's e-mail address.

File Transfer Protocol (FTP):
More reliable than e-mail and much easier to automate, FTP is probably the most common means today of exchanging data between Amkor and it's customers. Amkor is able to use automation to support both push (Amkor uploads a file) and pull (Amkor downloads a file) scenarios.

Electronic Data Interchange (EDI):
EDI is a system that utilizes world-wide standard messages, that dictate the format that should be used to exchange data between two companies. An EDI standard as been developed for almost every potential exchange (purchase orders, invoices, ship alerts, order status, etc.). EDI is becoming supplanted by less expensive and, in many cases, easier to use solutions such as RosettaNet.

RosettaNet:
RosettaNet is a consortium of companies, formed to create message standards that are easier to use, less expensive and more appropriate than EDI standards. With strong semiconductor industry participation, standards are being validated that specifically address the semiconductor industry's requirements. Recently released are standards governing WIP transactions, purchase orders, and invoices, to name a few.

B2B:
B2B software is currently the utopia of system integration by allowing an overall process to be automated as opposed to just a portion of it. B2B integration allows for a "two-way street" in that each action causes a complementary reaction. This allows for a much tighter integration and an expansion of the exchange options and benefits. Amkor is currently work with Peregrine's Extricity software as our B2B hub.
