MultiMediaCard Association (MMCA) - was founded in 1998, with 14 companies as original members, to promote the worldwide adoption of these sleek, slim, small and secure devices. The MMCA standard grew out of a joint development between SanDisk Corporation, Siemens AG and Infineon Technologies AG, and was introduced in July 1995.
